Evaluation/ assessment
Hello everyone, hope you are doing well.
For this week's topic i chose to write about evaluation and assessment. Both of them are very important , most important one's in teaching programmes.
Assessments that are given to students help teachers to have a better evaluation and give the best or well-deserved marks to each of them. Most of professors use evaluation as a way of comparing the performance of each student , so they can understand who deserves the best marks and who deserves a little bit less. There are some teachers who take in consideration only the final exam and do not give credits to the work students have done during the whole time. In my personal experience, i have faced such a thing. Working hard during all fhe time and then seeing the teachers taking in consideration only what i wrote on the final exam. Assessments are important. They push students to work harder.
When we evaluate ,we are making a judgement on the performance that students provide. After doing that we decide how to grafe them. Evaluation is more as a final review and focusses on what is learned, while assessment is a systematic process to learn more, to gather ideas and to show what you have learned during the whole time. It focuses more on the individual learner but there are cases when you have to work in pairs. Teachers do so in order to help students gather new ideas and learning new things by working with other students. Each of them think differently and this helps them to learn new things and also to improve their work. Some of these assessments are:
- Class presentation:
We as teachers can give to students a topic to work in and to present it in front of the class. This will help them not only in gathering ideas and put them on work , but also in speaking proces. They may become fluent speakers and avoid some of the usual mistakes.
-True or false Quiz:
By creating that kind of quiz helps us know how much have our students understand the lesson. We should not only ask them choose one of the answers but also giving the reason why do they think so. In this case we understand if they have read and worked on the lesson or not.
Hope you enjoy reading this post. Feel free to add your comments;)

Hey Lorena ! Nice post. It's well structured and well explained . I also like the fact that you have include your personal experience about how the teacher has evaluated you which is very unfair . Great work :)

ReplyDeleteHello Lorena!
ReplyDeleteYes, we have all faced such kind of evaluation: our teacher taking into consideration only the final exam. I think this is not correct, because we have worked throughout the year.
Quizzes always function when we want to assess our students. They are interactive. No one gets excluded, so the teacher may have information about all the students.
This post is very convenient, keep going
